A free tool which is developed by a deviantart member will help you to perform the change in as simple as clicking of a button. The tool is called Windows 7 Start Button Changer.

This start orb changer provides a number of orb images for you to start changing the orb immediately. In case you want to get the original orb look back to the default, you can restore it by clicking the “Restore Original Explorer Backup”. Note that the developer advises to always restore the orb back to the original everytime you want to change it.
