Dr.Web LinkChecker is an alternative solution to scan a file before you download it. It also allows you to scan the url or the web page that you’re about to visit. It is available as a free plugin for Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer. Just right-click the hyperlink or the url of the web page and select “Scan with Dr.Web”.
